Business Check List
- First things first, be sure to activate your store (see detailed instructions in your Welcome email)
- Set your state taxing jurisdiction(s)... Click on Settings, then on Taxing Jurisdiction. Input your 2-letter state abbreviation and click Update.
- Consider your business plan... for details go to: our Write Your Business Plan page.
- Create your own unique business identity... This can be done through your own unique domain name , logo, and website content.
- Choose a domain name... It is possible for you to register your own domain names, and to link those domains to your account. If you are looking to register a domain name, we recommend the services of kingsdomains.com where most domain names can be registered for around $8.95 a year. This way you can have your own personal identity such as 123books.com or similar. If using kingsdomains.com, use their TOTAL-DNS feature (Not Domain Name Forwarding) and point your A-Record to 66.232.99.163 - then just link your URL below and you are done! Instructions below.
Here is how to register your own domain name... 1.) Go to (copy & paste into an Internet browser)... KingsDomains.com 2.) Do a search for the name you want 3.) Scroll down and click "Continue" 4.) Register your new domain name.
Setting up your store's url - Changing your settings is a TWO step process...
Step #1: 1.) If you purchased your domain name from KingsDomains ~ log into your KingsDomains.com account. 2.) In the left menu ~ click on "Domains." 3.) Click on your domain name 4.) Click on "Total DNS Control and MX Records." 5.) Under "A (Host)" ~ click on the pencil under the "Actions" category. 6.) The "Host Name" should remain: @ 7.) The "Points to Ip Address" box should be changed to: 66.232.99.163 8.) The "TTL" should remain at: 1 hour 9.) Click "OK". Step #2: 1.) Log into your bookstore's admin site. It can be found by going to YourSiteName.deepershopping.com /admin. 2.) In the left menu ~ click on "Store Settings" 3.) Click on "URL's and Web Addresses" 4.) Add your url and click update.
Customize your business banner / logo... Create your own logo and customize your web site banner. Your store banner must be 325x60 pixels. If you choose to create a Favicon for your site, it must be 16x16 pixels. Banners may be created in PhotoShop, Paint Brush, or other image software programs. If you are having trouble, let me know. I know someone who may be able to help. I personally don't do banners, but I know someone who can take your store logo/picture, incorporate it into a banner, and upload it to your store for you. She charges $25 for the service.
- Set Your Store Discount... Remember that the Internet can be a competetive place. You are the store owner and have control over setting your discount pricing & creating your store coupons. To set your store discount, please log into your Administrative Back Office & click on Products (in the lower gray menu portion of the menu), then look to the top left of the menu. There you will find two links. You can adjust your discount storewide or by categories.
- Training Calls: Listen to recorded training calls on how to customize your website and marketing ideas.
- Business Cards... Check out Vista Print. Vista Print offers a huge selection of full color business cards. You can also check out Avery if you are interested in printing your own business cards.
- Familiarize yourself with your store and back office... Go to your storefront and click around. See what kind of products your store carries. Log into your back office and look around. Go through the menus. Click on links. There is a lot of features in your back office. Don't get overwhelmed. If you have questions, please call me... - Submit your store web... to the search engines , directories , create and submit articles to high Page Rank websites, start a some blogs, and do some social bookmarking.
- Educate yourself... on how to market your website, and start putting it into action right away! Commit to working your store on a daily basis.
A Good Daily TWO STEP Goal To Work Toward... - Goal #1 ~ Work toward making at least ONE sale per day OR to add at least ONE person to your newsletter system each day!
- Goal #2 ~ Work to make at least ONE customer happy per day!
