Item Description...
Product Description In "42 Rules for Sensible Investing", Leon Shirman shares his practical insights on personal investment strategies and philosophies, and on picking winning stocks. These views are heavily influenced by successful long-term approaches used by modern investing legends, such as Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch. The book provides a checklist of concise, practical, and sensible rules that are indispensable in assessing investment ideas. You will read about investing principles that can be used to evaluate your portfolio and immediately implement changes if necessary. Some rules are common sense advice. Some you may have already heard about. And some could definitely cause controversy: - Why index funds perform better than most other actively managed funds
- How diversification can sometimes be a bad idea
- Why long term, investing in stocks is less risky than in bonds or bills
- Why it makes sense to stay invested at all times
- How simple process of stock picking is better than a complex one

| This book has alot of great information and helped make things easy to understand for the everyday person. | | | | A must read for everyone Dec 24, 2008 |
| Finally, a book that can satisfy many needs of both an experienced investor and a novice. Concise, easy to read and extremely informative. A voice of reason in turbulent times. | | | | As the book's title reads, but I would add "For normal people" Dec 23, 2008 |
42 Rules of Sensible Investing is a great concept. There are many books available on investing, but I haven't seen one where distinct and useful ideas, or rules, are presented in such a concise and understandable form. It is easy and very valuable to check one's portfolio against the rules in this book. It is a well-written, quick and engaging read.
In this economy something as realistic as this book gives you some sense of sanity, and the hope that you can still make the right decisions. Or, at the very least, correct the wrong ones. Oh well...
